Top 5 Tips From 5 Years In Business

Through 5 years of business development and 200+ animation projects, we are often asked this question:

If you could start your business all over again, what tips would you give yourself? 💡

Here are our co-founder’s top tips 5 years in:

#1 - Slow Down 😌

The entrepreneur landscape tends to idealize crazy growth and overnight millionaires. If fame and fortune aren't your main goals, then make sure to set a pace of growth that is realistic, and also comfortable, for you and your team.

Be honest with yourself about what you want and need out of this journey.

#2 - Learn To Truly Listen 👂

Listening is one of the most vital skills in leadership and management. There are 3 ways in which we listen, and only one allows you to grow. So ask yourself these questions:

  • Am I listening to teach?

  • Am I listening to win?

  • Am I listening to learn?

By identifying how you’re listening to someone, you can begin to break down the barriers that stop us from deeply understanding others’ perspectives.

#3 - Communication Is Everything 💬

Getting aligned can seem tricky when you have multiple founders or executives each with different ideas, perspectives, and approaches. That’s why our studio utilizes a Business Therapist, to recognize and understand each other’s differences to create and build meaningful and united processes. Once you can truly understand how to communicate clearly across roles and responsibilities, the company can thrive as united team.

#4 - Great Ideas Can Grow From Tough Situations 🔥

There are times in any business when the team is faced with a tough decision.

Remember that the hardest moments can create a need for clarity. Use that situation as an opportunity to learn, grow, and create new strategies and ideas. Make room for ‘crisis prevention’ objectives to find ways to prevent situations from happening again. These are all part of the growing pains.

#5 - Don’t Forget To Enjoy The Process 🕹️

We’ve learned so much throughout the process of growing our business, and we wouldn’t be here today without the support of our families, friends, interns, freelancers, and clients who have continued to support this tiny team’s big dreams. It sounds cliche but it’s the journey, not the destination is basically our mantra at this point. We hope you’ll continue to stay with us for the ride.
